10 Ways to Check the Weather Online

When one grows up in tornado alley, which is what Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi have been known as, one is interested in tomorrow’s weather today.

After learning the next morning of a tornado warning that happened after the TV was turned off and I was sleeping away the night, we invested in a NOAH weather radio.  Now how much good it has done me is questionable.  Then to stay up for the 10 o’clock news and see what the weather will be for the next work day, may give you an idea of how to dress or how to prepare for the rain or snow, etc.   However I have learned that of all the local stations we have, none seem to be on the same page as far as local weather is concerned.

So can one get weather forecast from the Internet?  We have the ability to set our Internet page to the   (1 ) www.weatherchannel.com.

Then add your local zip code and immediately it brings up the weather for your area.

Even though the old Farmer’s Almanac can be purchased as a booklet, it can also be found online as well @ (2)  www.almanac.com

(3) www.weatherbug.com is a live, streaming weather tracking station, providing weather information 24 hours a day.

(4)  www.weather.com/ is a very interesting site for weather as well as statistics of years past.

(5) www.weather.yahoo.com/

(6)  Online sites for local TV stations

(7) www.liveweatherblogs.com/

(8)  set your home page to Google weather, enter your zip code and each time your home page is viewed the most recent forecast for your area is there.

(9) www.accuweather.com/ With commentary by Joe Bastardi and more than 20 forecasting models, this is the internet’s most robust meteorological workstation.

(10)  Most stations, whether local or cable, are more than glad for us to follow them on twitter.  So, for up-to-date weather news, follow them on twitter! Get live commentary from meteorologists as the story is breaking.

Since we all have weather on our minds, sometimes more than at other times, we are now in the 21st century when at the touch of a mouse (!) we can know what is happening on the other side of the world, or even in our town.  For sure from me to you I say, “stay safe”.
